Bio-Statistics

The objective of the course is the teaching of basic concepts of data analysis. The emphasis of the course is on definitions, techniques, and the selection of an appropriate method of data analysis. Mathematical proofs are not dicussed. Each of the methods is extensively illustrated with practical examples.

  • Introduction to probability theory and the theorem of Bayes.
  • Variables and distributions.
  • Types of variables and scales.
  • Descriptive statistics.
  • Important theoretical distributions.
  • Estimators and confidence intervals.
  • Hypothesis tests.
  • F-test, and independent and paired t-tests.
  • Tests for categorical variables.
  • Non-parametric techniques.
  • Analysis of variance.
  • Regression analysis.
